Kern- und Hauptaufgaben

PhD position:

  • You enroll in the PhD program in Economics at the University of St.Gallen (GPEF). You are encouraged to enroll also in the Swiss Program for Beginning Doctoral Students in Economics at the Study Center Gerzensee.
  • You collaborate on Prof. Dr. Martin Wolf’s SNF Starting Grant “Debt, Growth, and the Macroeconomy: A Unified Perspective”.
  • You are working on your PhD thesis on topics related to the grant and beyond (monetary economics, international economics, and economic growth) with the doctoral supervisor being Prof. Dr. Martin Wolf.
  • You collaborate with other researchers of the chair team and beyond.

 

Post-doctoral position:

  • You collaborate on Martin Wolf’s SNF Starting Grant “Debt, Growth, and the Macroeconomy: A Unified Perspective” and beyond (monetary economics, international economics, and economic growth).
  • You collaborate with other researchers of the chair team and beyond.

Erwartete Kompetenzen / Profil

  • You are committed to high-quality academic research.

  • You have an outstanding Master's degree in economics or a related field / PhD degree in economics for the post-doctoral position (by August or September 2025).

  • You have excellent command of computer software (e.g., Matlab or Python) and experience in solving DSGE models analytically and numerically.

Vorstellung der Organisationseinheit

Prof. Dr. Martin Wolf is an Assistant Professor for Monetary Economics at the University of St. Gallen and is based at the Swiss Institute of International Economics and Applied Research (SIAW-HSG). The SIAW-HSG has a strong focus on promoting young researchers, with recent PhD graduates joining Harvard Business School and the Paris School of Economics, among others. The SIAW-HSG offers a work environment that is research-oriented, intellectually stimulating, and exciting. Both positions are funded by the SNF, through the SNF Starting Grant “Debt, Growth, and the Macroeconomy: A Unified Perspective”. There is no compulsory teaching associated with any of the positions, which are fully research oriented.
